Vinesh Phogat furious at IOA, said – is it a crime to request a physio?

Actually, Vinesh along with himself and other women wrestlers had requested to send a physio to Tokyo. He reiterated this demand once again. Responding to a media report, Vinesh asked whether it is a crime to request a physiotherapist for four female wrestlers participating in the Tokyo Games.

Vinesh tweeted, ‘Is it a crime for four women wrestlers to demand a physiotherapist. There are other examples of an athlete having multiple coaches/staff? Where is the balance? We have asked for a physio long back and not at the last minute as mentioned in the report.

Vinesh Phogat is participating in the 53 kg weight category at the Tokyo Olympics. She has also represented India in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Where her knee was fractured during the quarter-final match and she returned from the mat groaning. The year 2021 has been great for Vinesh Phogat and she has won three titles so far this year.

Vinesh won the gold medal in the 53 kg weight category of the Poland Open held in June 2021. Earlier, he had also bagged the gold medal of Mateo Pelicone in March and the Asian Championship in April. Vinesh’s dominance in the Asian Championship was such that she did not lose a single point in the entire tournament.
