A person’s life was saved on Friday due to the promptness of the police in the capital Delhi. This person was going to commit suicide near Signature Bridge. Then the police got a call from the Facebook office that a person was trying to commit suicide, after which the police showed vigilance and saved the person. Delhi Police has done this work on the day when ‘World Suicide Prevention Day’ is celebrated all over the world on 10th September.
Delhi Police Cyber Cell DCP Anayesh Rai said that the cyber cell suddenly received a call from the Facebook office in Ireland. Facebook alerts police that Suraj (name changed) is going to commit suicide in Delhi. Such activity is coming out from his profile. Taking the call seriously, the cyber cell took out the details and location of the phone number which it was telling near the Signature Bridge.
Handed over to the family after counseling
As soon as the location was received, the three police stations of North and North East districts of Dayalpur, Timarpur and Seelampur were alerted. Based on the input, the police reached out to Suraj’s brother Pankaj (name changed) and also included him in the investigation, so that the youth could be identified quickly. With the promptness of the police, Suraj was traced to Khajuri Khas area, just 500 meters away from the Signature Bridge.
According to the police, Suraj’s age is 27 years. He has done B.Sc. He was studying MBA from a private college, but left his studies in between. He was in a relationship and had recently separated from her, due to which Sooraj was troubled for several days.
Due to this, he tried to commit suicide. However, because of the police and Facebook, his life could be saved. After that Suraj was counseled and then handed over to the family members.
