In the Corona epidemic, many religious places of the country opened their doors to the patients. Somewhere the temple itself was converted into a hospital and somewhere a separate Kovid Care Center was prepared. We are bringing the story of such religious places. Today first report from Shirdi.
Even though Shirdi Trust has received 83% less donations this year than last year, there is no shortage of service. So far, more than 7 thousand corona patients have been cured from the Kovid Hospital run by Sai Trust. Here, along with the patients, arrangements for lodging and food are also free for their families.
Queues of patients, not devotees, For all free food
In Shirdi Sai Dham, 1.65 crore devotees reached for darshan in 2018. In 2019, 1.57 crore devotees visited, but in 2020 the temple had to be closed due to the outbreak of Corona. When the temple opened after the first wave, 5.74 lakh devotees visited between November 16 and December 21. In 2021, between January 1 and April 5, the number of devotees remained around 62 thousand. In view of the Corona epidemic, the Trust built a Kovid Hospital in April-2020 and treatment of patients was started here for free.
From April-2020 till now, more than 7 thousand patients have been cured from Baba’s Dham. The team of the trust, which was earlier deployed in the service of the devotees, is now engaged in the service of the patients. About three thousand employees are providing services in the hospital itself.
Apart from Super Multi Specialty Hospital, arrangements have also been made for treatment of Kovid patients in General Hospital. Kanhuraj Harishchandra Bagate, CEO of Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, said, “We are treating corona patients free of cost. In multi-specialty hospitals, even if a small fee is charged in any facility, it is compensated through the schemes of the state or central government. This does not put any burden on the patient.
He says, ‘People left from Shirdi in five trains, we gave food packets to everyone. Thousands of people were sent to their homes by buses with arrangements for food. We have been operating Quarantine Center, Isolation Center and Dedicated Kovid Health Center since last year. As long as the corona infected are coming, this facility will continue.
640 bedded hospital, 140 oxygen beds
Shirdi Trust has prepared a 640-bed Kovid Hospital. It has 140 oxygen beds and 20 ventilator beds. However, arrangements have been made for Kovid at three places in total. If all the three places are combined, then there is a facility of about one and a half thousand beds.
295 crore less found in Corona
Sai Baba Trust got less than Rs 295 crore during the Corona period. The trust received a donation of Rs 428 crore in the year 2018-19. Apart from this, 24.795 kg gold, 428.555 kg silver were found.
Similarly, in the year 2019-20, a donation of Rs 357 crore came. 17.90 kg gold and 357.492 kg silver were found. Whereas during the Corona period i.e. from 1 April 2020 to 25 May 2021, the trust received 62 crore donations online.
That is, donations came less by Rs 295 crore as compared to last year. If we look at the percentage, there has been a decrease of about 83%. About 14 kg of gold and 295 kg of silver were also found less. Talking about the assets of the trust, the total assets of Sai Sansthan was Rs 3013 crore as of 31 March 2020.
