Team India’s support staff may see a change after the T20 World Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Head coach Ravi Shastri, fielding coach R Sridhar, bowling coach Bharat Arun and batting coach Vikram Rathod may leave the team. Let us tell you that the T20 World Cup will be held in the UAE in October-November this year.
According to ‘The Indian Express’, Ravi Shastri has told some members of the BCCI that he may be away from the national team after the T20 World Cup. Ravi Shastri’s tenure will end after the World Cup.
Shastri was associated with Team India for the first time in 2014
Shastri was first associated with Team India in the year 2014 as a director. His tenure was till the T20 World Cup 2016. After this, Anil Kumble was made the coach for a year.
Ravi Shastri was appointed full-time coach after the Indian team’s loss in the final of the Champions Trophy in 2017. India won two Test series in Australia under Ravi Shastri. Under Shastri’s coach, Team India traveled to the final of the World Test Championship.
However, under Shastri’s coach, Team India has not captured the ICC trophy even once. Team India had reached the semi-finals in the 2019 World Cup.
Apart from Shastri, the arrival of bowling coach Bharat Arun has improved the bowling of Team India. A pool of fast bowlers has been prepared in the team. But now, the cricket board has decided that the team needs a change to reach the next level.
As per the protocol, the board will invite applications for coaching posts after the T20 World Cup. Some officials are already pointing to India ‘A’, U-19 team and NCA chief and coach Rahul Dravid. Team India, led by Shikhar Dhawan under Dravid’s coaching, recently toured Sri Lanka, where they captured the ODI series.
