Railways has issued tender for running 58 Vande Bharat trains. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced in his Independence Day speech that 75 Vande Bharat trains would be started in 75 weeks on the occasion of ‘Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav’. Now the railway is looking active for this.
It is worth noting that at present only two Vande Bharat trains are running. Vande Bharat train is a semi high speed train like Shatabdi and its fare is also premium. New coaches for this train will be manufactured at Integral Coach Factory Chennai, Modern Coach Factory Rae Bareli and Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala.
This is the last date
According to news agency PTI, the last date for these tenders is October 20. For this, the pre-bid meeting will be held on September 21 and the last date for submission of pre-bid inquiries will be September 14. This tender has been issued on August 28 only. Under this, bids have been invited for the design, development, manufacturing, integration and testing of traction propulsion electrics for 58 Vande Bharat trains.
PM had announced
In his speech on August 15 from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi had said that on the completion of 75 years of independence, ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ would be celebrated for 75 weeks across the country. To commemorate this, Railways will also start 75 Vande Bharat trains to connect all the areas of the country.
Prior to this, in the month of September, Railways has issued a fresh tender for 44 Vande Bharat trains. In this way, Railways will now get a total of 102 Vande Bharat trains by March 2024. Of these, 75 trains will be received by August 15, 2023.
