Poetry was written on the dead bodies flowing in the Ganges, Gujarat Sahitya Academy said – ‘Sahitya Naxal’

Sahitya Academy has fiercely targeted that poem through its editorial. For once, there is no mention of Shav Vahini Ganga anywhere in the article, but the hint has remained there.

During the second wave of Corona, many disturbing news were heard and seen. The way many dead bodies were flown in the Ganges, it was quite heart-wrenching. Now in Gujarat, the poet Parul Khakhar had written a poem on those disturbing incidents, it was also discussed a lot. But now there is a ruckus in Gujarat regarding the same poem. The Gujarat Sahitya Academy of the state government has termed it as a literary naxal. It has been said that an attempt is being made to spread anarchy through such poems.

Ruckus over poetry in Gujarat.

Sahitya Academy has fiercely targeted that poem through its editorial. For once, the Shav Vahini Ganga is not mentioned anywhere in the article, but the hint has remained there. It is clearly said in the article that this is not a poem, but the work of spreading anarchy is being done. It has been emphasized that the poetry in discussion is not poetry from any angle, it is just a futile outrage where work has been done to stigmatize Indian subjects, democracy and society.

Is chaos through poetry?

It has been further written in the editorial that the kind of words used in this poem do not suit any poem. Such thinking is seen only in the country against the anti-central ideology. According to the article, similar thinking is also seen of literary Naxals.

The Gujarat Sahitya Academy has made it clear from its side that they do not consider any such poem as poetry and they do not agree with the ideas being promoted through those poems. In such a situation, the politics of the state has become very heated regarding a poem.

Questions are also being raised about whether a poem can be said to spread anarchy? But nothing is being said openly on this yet. Poet Parul Khakhar has also not reacted to this controversy.
