Pakistan is now openly siding with the Taliban. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the Taliban has proved false the propaganda against the Ashraf Ghani government, which lost power, by offering a general amnesty and allowing girls to go to school.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi while addressing the Hussainia conference in Multan said, ‘There was a fear that the Taliban would impose restrictions on the education of girls, but this is not happening. The Taliban has announced a general amnesty. Schools and business establishments are opening. He also announced that he would not take revenge. All peaceful steps taken by Taliban are welcome.
According to the Dawn report, the External Affairs Minister said that a false trend was started against Pakistan on social media which thwarted along with the blame game against Pakistan. Qureshi said, ‘The whole world knows that there was a corrupt system in Afghanistan. Pakistan’s priority is peace, stability and normalcy in Afghanistan. We want peace and tranquility to be restored in Afghanistan, markets remain open and Afghanistan moves towards normal life.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said, ‘The world is approaching Pakistan for a solution to the Afghanistan issue, considering Pakistan as a responsible country. I have spoken to the foreign ministers of China, the US and the UK. China discussed its priorities with respect to Afghanistan, while I also explained to the Chinese how Pakistan is being affected by the current situation in Afghanistan.
On the question of not allowing Pakistan to attend the UN Security Council meeting, the External Affairs Minister said that India did not show foresight by denying Pakistan to attend the meeting. If Pakistan’s stand had been heard there, it would have been better for everyone.
On the possibility of increasing the number of Afghan refugees in Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that there are already 3 million Afghan refugees in Pakistan, while keeping in mind the current situation, a comprehensive plan has also been made for them. The Foreign Minister said that there is no pressure of refugees on the Chaman and Torkham borders.
Regarding the evacuation from Bul airport, Qureshi said that people wanted to leave Afghanistan, but no evacuation is required after the Taliban announced a general apology. The Pakistani Embassy in Kabul is issuing transit visas to foreigners in Afghanistan.
The External Affairs Minister said that the entire region is going through a crisis, some foreign forces are busy conspiring against Pakistan. Attempts are being made to divide the country systematically by hurting the sentiments of the people and creating unrest through a well-planned conspiracy, but we have to bring these forces to the fore.
Qureshi said, “750 websites have been detected which are busy creating internal disturbances. There is a mixed war going on and social media is being used as a weapon to spread fake news and negative propaganda. Especially such posts are being uploaded which are hurting the sentiments of the people.
