IPL: KKR’s one-sided victory over Mumbai, Iyer-Tripathi’s stormy innings

The 34th match of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in Abu Dhabi. Kolkata defeated Mumbai by 7 wickets on the back of the brilliant innings of Venkatesh Iyer (53) and Rahul Tripathi (74 not out). Jasprit Bumrah took all three wickets for Mumbai.

With this win, Kolkata has 8 points. She has reached the fourth position in the points table. Batting first, Mumbai scored 155 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. KKR achieved the target of 156 runs in 15.1 overs for the loss of 3 wickets.

Chasing a target of 156, Venkatesh Iyer gave Kolkata a quick start and added 40 runs in 3 overs. Shubman Gill (13) was victimized by Bumrah in his first over. After this Rahul Tripathi landed on the field.

Venkatesh and Rahul added 88 runs for the second wicket. Venkatesh hit 4 fours and 3 sixes in his 30-ball innings. He was sent to the pavilion by Bumrah in the 12th over of the innings. Captain Eoin Morgan (7) was also caught by Bumrah at the hands of Bolt.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians scored 155 for 6 in 20 overs. Due to this, Morgan’s captaincy team got a target of 156 runs to win. Opener Quinton de Kock scored 55 runs for Mumbai. Apart from him, captain Rohit Sharma contributed 33 runs. Pacer famous Krishna and Lockie Ferguson took 2-2 wickets for KKR.
