Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again sung the Kashmir melody. Contrary to Pakistan’s old policy on Kashmir, Imran Khan on Friday said that Islamabad will allow the people of Kashmir to decide whether they want to join Pakistan or become an independent nation. However, India has always been saying in clear terms to the world and Pakistan that Jammu and Kashmir is and will remain an integral part of it.
According to the agency, Imran Khan had come to rally in Tarar Khal in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. There is an election here on July 25. During this, Imran Khan also rejected the claims of a prominent opposition leader that his government is working on a plan to make Kashmir a province of Pakistan.
Maryam Nawaz’s statement
Imran Khan’s reply came after the statement of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz. Maryam had said in a rally in PoK on July 18 that a decision had been taken to change the status of Kashmir and make it a province.
Freedom to decide future: Imran
At the same time, rejecting this statement, Imran Khan said, I do not know from where all these things have come out. Pak PM Khan said, a day will come when Kashmiris will be given freedom to decide their future according to UN resolutions. He said, I am sure that on that day the people of Kashmir will decide to join Pakistan.
Imran said that after the UN referendum, his government will hold a second referendum. In this, the people of Kashmir will be able to decide whether they want to stay with Pakistan or become a separate nation.
What is Pakistan’s policy on Kashmir?
According to Pakistan’s declared policy on Kashmir, the issue will be resolved through a UN resolution plebiscite. In this, the people of Kashmir will have the right to choose between Pakistan and India. But now Imran has put a third option contrary to this policy. Whereas there is no option of an independent nation in the UN resolution.
‘Jammu and Kashmir Internal Affairs’ – India
On the other hand, India has already clarified its position on Jammu and Kashmir. India has said that Jammu and Kashmir is an internal and integral part of India. India has also made it clear to Pakistan that any issue related to Jammu and Kashmir is an internal matter, it can be resolved by India itself.
