The ICC said, ‘BCCI will be the host of the tournament which will now be played at the Dubai International Stadium, Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium and Oman Cricket Academy Ground from 17 October to 14 November 2021.’

Eight qualifying teams will participate in the first round of the tournament, which will be played in Oman and UAE. Four of these teams will reach the Super 12 round.

The upcoming tournament will be the first T20 World Cup after 2016. The last time West Indies won the title by defeating England. Eight teams in the preliminary round include Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia, Oman and Papua New Guinea. The final of the tournament will be played on November 14.

ICC CEO Geoff Allardyce said, ‘Our priority is to organize the ICC T20 World Cup safely and that too within the current schedule.’ He said, ‘This decision has given us certainty about organizing the tournament in such a country, Which has already hosted major tournaments in a bio-secure environment.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said, ‘We would have been happy to host the tournament in India, but in the current situation and considering the importance of the World Championship, BCCI will host it in UAE and Oman.’Live TV
