The Bollywood actress told Hindustan Times, “I think we encounter sexism all the time, not just through men, but even women. Sometimes we do this to other women as well. I think there is so much misogyny in the patriarchal society, in which we are all immersed, that it is difficult to get rid of easily. I still face this sometimes. This bothers me, but much less than before. All around me, I see people confronting sexism. Not everyone is even aware that they are saying something wrong most of the time.

Vidya Balan further added, “In my early years, I was always told that the male actor has given his date, so you have to keep your date around him. Sometimes it didn’t even matter what my role was. Male actor in that film is very important.” Let us tell you that in today’s time Vidya Balan leads many films alone and the film also does much better on the big screen.
