Controversy over The Empire web series, trended #UninstallHotstar

Online streaming app Hotstar has been in controversy with the release of web show The Empire. #UninstallHotstar is trending on Twitter. The series is said to be based on the novel “Empire of the Mogul: Raiders from the North” by Alex Rutherford. The show is based on Babur the ruler of the Mughal Empire. Fans are criticizing this show.

Under the Information Technology Rules 2021, the officials had received complaints about this series that the series glorifies Babar. But the officials dismissed it saying that the series was not glorifying Babar. Hotstar has claimed that there is nothing controversial in the web series.
