The Sports Ministry on Wednesday released the Cheer for India song to encourage the Indian athletes at the Tokyo Olympics. It was officially launched by Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. The song has been composed by Grammy Award winning composer AR Rahman. Young singer Ananya Birla has lent her voice to the song. The Sports Ministry has appealed to the countrymen to encourage Indian players during the Olympics.
Cheer 4 India, Hindustani Way
The official title of this song has been kept as Cheer 4 India Hindustani Way. The video of the song depicts the success of Indian players in different Olympics. Indian Olympic Association President Narinder Batra said that this song is the result of 18 months of hard work. Minister of State for Sports Nitish Pramanik, Sports Secretary Ravi Mittal, SAI Director Sandeep Pradhan and Indian Olympic Association Secretary General Rajeev Mehta were also present at the launch of the song.
124 players going from India
124 players are participating in this Olympic Games from India. These include 69 male players and 55 female players. A 228-member team from India, including officers and support staff, is going to Tokyo.
India can set medal record
India has so far won 28 medals in the Olympic Games. India won the most medals in an Olympics in London (2012). Then Indian players had won 6 medals. This time it is expected that the Indian players will leave behind that figure and make a new record. India is expected to win medals in shooting, wrestling, boxing, badminton, weightlifting and hockey.
