Captain Amarinder Singh, Partap Singh Bajwa and other senior MLAs of Punjab Congress are upset over the Congress high command giving more preference to Navjot Singh Sidhu. To stop Sidhu, Captain Amarinder and Pratap Singh Bajwa have agreed to come together on a stage.
The ongoing political battle between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Chief Minister Captain Amarinder in Punjab Congress has now reached a new turn. Ahead of the assembly elections to be held next year, the opposition faction has come with Captain Amarinder Singh against Navjot Singh Sidhu.
In fact, Captain Amarinder Singh, Partap Singh Bajwa and other senior MLAs of Punjab Congress are angry over the Congress high command giving more preference to Navjot Singh Sidhu. These senior leaders believe that the old Congressmen are behind the creation of the Congress in Punjab, while Sidhu has joined the Congress some time back. To stop Sidhu, Captain Amarinder and Pratap Singh Bajwa have agreed to come together on a stage.
According to sources, senior Congress leaders say that it is not right to give such preference to Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was in another party. Seeing the soft corner in the mind of the high command regarding Sidhu, various factions have come along with Captain Amarinder Singh. Pratap Singh Bajwa and Captain Amarinder Singh have joined hands. It is believed that to prevent Sidhu from dominating Punjab, both the arch-rival leaders are ready to come on one platform.
In order to prevent the high command from giving Navjot Singh Sidhu big responsibility in the Punjab Congress or in the government, old opposition leaders are getting ‘alliance’ among themselves. The leaders of the anti-Congress Congress believe that the command of the Congress should be in the hands of the old Congressmen. Under this formula, Captain Amarinder Singh will try to keep all the angry MLAs united.
Recently, there was a split in the Punjab Congress. There has also been rhetoric between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Captain Amarinder Singh for the last several months, in which both have been targeting each other. Recently, the central high command had called all the MLAs and ministers to Delhi, interfering between the two. After this, all the leaders met in front of the panel constituted by the high command. Navjot Singh Sidhu, Captain Amarinder Singh were also among those who met. After this, it was believed that the high command can take some important decision to remove the displeasure of Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Let us tell you that assembly elections are going to be held in Punjab next year along with many other states. At present, there is a Congress government in the state, in which Captain Amarinder Singh is the Chief Minister. At the same time, other parties have also started preparations for the elections.
