The Chhattisgarh government has made a policy for the welfare of the third gender. The Chhattisgarh government has also opened the doors of police jobs for third gender people. 13 people of third gender have been appointed as constable in Chhattisgarh Police. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel honored and greeted 13 newly appointed police constables of the third gender community at the Chief Minister’s residence.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that he has given a new direction to his life by taking advantage of programs run for the welfare of third gender community and the policy of Chhattisgarh government. He has inspired them to make a difference in the lives of people by being an inspiration to their community. He said that Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country which has made a policy for the welfare of the third gender community of the state and to include them in the mainstream.
CM Baghel said that the state of Chhattisgarh has also constituted a welfare board for the rehabilitation and protection of rights of third gender persons. The Chief Minister further said that the government has made a provision of Rs 76 lakh in this year’s budget for setting up ashram-cum-rehabilitation centers for the rehabilitation of third gender persons. This will be the first center of its kind in the country.
The Chief Minister said that online software has been prepared for data of third gender community. In the survey, 2 thousand 919 third gender persons have been identified, out of which 1025 have been issued identity cards. This identity card is valid for ration card, passport, aadhar card etc. It is noteworthy that in the recruitment examination of constable in Chhattisgarh Police, 97 people of third gender had given the exam.
Out of 97 people who appeared in the recruitment examination of Chhattisgarh Police, 23 candidates were selected for the physical test. After the physical test, 13 participants were successful and they were selected for the post of constable. After this they were also posted in different districts of the state. Now Bhupesh Baghel has honored him by calling him the Chief Minister’s residence.
